Quick catch up: Top Honda Cadet Privateer – Ellis Bell

The Honda Cadet category of the Wera Tools British Kart Championship is a hotbed of action with nose to tail racing a staple of the series. With teams working together to grab every last tenth, being a Privateer can be a tough ask, but 11-year-old Ellis Bell grabbed top non-team spot this season and almost secured a top-ten overall place in the standings to boot.

In only his second full year in a major series, the young Scotsman enjoyed a stellar season, grabbing fastest times and a fourth place at Warden Law on his way to 11th overall.

The start to his BKC debut was a tricky one, swapping to a Synergy chassis for the first time but instantly gelled with the new kart, taking a personal best PFi lap time on his second session. His championship would progress with vigour, trading times with many more experienced contenders and would profess to “enjoy” his time in the paddock, racing as a true “Dad and lad” outfit.

And it would be an ever-challenging campaign, learning new circuits whilst coping with the British weather which led to some frantic last-minute set up changes. But his experience will all go to good use as he plans to step into the new Inter Max class of the BKC for 2023.

See you there Ellis!
