Championship chances: Clayton Ravenscroft – Senior X30

The Wera Tools British Kart Championship reaches a thrilling climax in October as the PF International circuit hosts the final round of the 2021 IAME, Rotax, Honda Cadet, TKM and Bambino season.

Senior X30 championship leader Clayton Ravenscroft has just 13 points in hand over Thomas Fleming  and we have a quick chat with the KR-Sport ace.

BKC: What has been your highlight of 2021?

CR: That would have to be Kimbolton; being able to win every race throughout the weekend [and being] out front from lights to flag was the best feeling

BKC: What have you struggled with in 2021 or was perhaps a low point?

CR: I would say a low point of the season would have to be Larkhall I believe we had enough speed to race for the win, but a poor qualifying and a few little mistakes cost us the chance to score more valuable points.

BKC: Coming into 2021 – did you think you would be fighting for the title?

CR: I certainly knew I had the chance of fighting for the win under the wing of KR Sport fresh off of my return to the UK paddock. I re-joined the paddock mid-way through the British championship last year and I finished that campaign with a 3rd at Kimbolton, 1st at Dunkeswell and 1st at PFI however I knew the competition would be tough as ever coming into 2021.

BKC: What is your approach for the final rounds?

CR: The main focus of course is to score big points consistently.

BKC: What are your plans for 2022?

CR: In 2022 I feel I will be a bit more hands on, I think I will race the British Championship again but maybe not race so much on other weekends. I have a plan to be working alongside KR-Sport next season for the passion of success, we want to bring back the 2018 season we had and try to win everything we enter. I believe we have a great team of staff and drivers that can achieve anything that we put our minds to; 2022 we are coming for you!😉
