Quick catch up: Junior TKM Rookie winner – Yehan Kallychurn

Indoor karting graduate Yehan Kallychurn has enjoyed a bumper season in the Wera Tools British Kart Championships in 2022, securing a plethora of impressive accolades during his campaign in Junior TKM this season.

Having progressed from the Indoor scene, Kallychurn has headed into the BKC with confidence boosting form, taking him to the top Rookie award, fourth in the championship standings and the Wera Tools Driver of the Day Award for his performance at Warden Law in May.

“It was a very tough season but with the help and support of my team I managed to overcome the challenges” he says.

“I am very delighted to win three podiums out of five rounds in BKC, and it feel amazing to win the Top Rookie championship title this season”.

The self-funded family team enjoyed a blistering year on the circuits in the Klassen Motorsport run kart, and cites the Karting North East meeting as a highlight.

“My highlight of this season is my first time at Warden Law was a great experience, as I was consistently in the top three and finished second in the final.”

“I struggled in the Final due to weather conditions, I went out onto the round on slicks, slowly managing to get back in to change onto a wet tyre. From there, I managed to push forward and finished second place in the final. [That taught me] the most valuable and most important thing I have learned in karting is to keep calm and focus on your goals and respect everyone.”

“I am looking forward to next year, and hopefully I’ll manage to come 1st in BKC next year. As I don’t have any sponsors, I would like to thank my Dad on the spanners , Klaassen Motorsport and my family and friends for supporting me in my karting journey; without them that wouldn’t be possible. I would also like to thank Motorsport UK and Wera Tools. ”
