🏆2019 IAME Cadet Champion- Harley Keeble

Each week we are speaking to our 2019 Champions and ask them some all important questions to see what makes them tick.

This week is 2019 IAME Cadet Champion – Harley Keeble

How did you get started in the sport?

My Dad races from as early as I can remember, I first went in a kart when I was 3.

What was the highlight of your Rookie title winning year?

Winning the double header at Rowrah was probably my highlight. I had an incident the weekend before at the O Plate so we put a new kart down for this round. I had issues all day on the Friday and couldn’t pinpoint the issue so I really thought the championship was out of the window. When I won both the rounds it was so rewarding for myself and the team.

What was your low point last season?

Probably Kart Masters, I was so fast and should have won, or the Saturday Final at Whilton Mill. I won the race on track from grid 16 and clinched the championship, it was one of my best drive’s but the win was taken away due to a track limit infringement after being pushed off.

Why do you enjoy competing in Karting and the BKC?

I love Karting and Motorsport. I love competing, especially at the front for race wins. I really enjoyed the structure and professionalism of the BKC.

What’s your favourite circuit?

Probably PFi. It’s where you can learn the most and it’s so rewarding when you get it right.

Who has been your toughest rival?

I think throughout 2019 it would have to be Kean Berta. Harry Jnr Burgoyne was certainly my strongest competitor towards the end of the season but Berta raced very well from round one.

When we do get underway, what are your hopes for the new season?

I’ve been fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to race in Europe but it would be quite nice to make a return to the BKC in the future.

Due to the delayed start to the season what are you planning on doing with this unexpected time off from racing?

I’ve actually taken a few weeks off from any kind of racing during lockdown. It was quite a busy time over the winter so I have taken the opportunity to have a little break. I have taken part in some sim racing, having fun, studying onboard footage of previous races and keeping my fitness up and of course squeezing a little school work in too!

We wish Harley and everyone in the BKC well. Stay safe and look after each other. We will be back in action before you know it #StayOnTrack
